On the 17th of September 2006, Umphakatsi Project  launched the project in a spectacular progressive style at Ekulindeni High School. The launch was marked by installation of six computers to the school for community information technology support. The computers will benefit both the school and the surrounding community. Mr Nobela - the principal of the school could not believe his eyes when the computers arrived in the school. The school which has been faced by vandalism made a commitment that the computers will be safeguarded and enusre that the local community also feel a sense of ownership to the project. The learners who could not take away their excitement grinned and smiled indefinately as the orientation proceeded. To most of the learners it was their first time to touch a computer.
